The band started playing seriously in 1994 under the name Bodybag. The members were the same as they are today, only Bas played as second guitarist then. During this stage came a bassist (Vincent Schutter) along, but he left the band after a few weeks. This was the only other bandmember the band ever had.

In 1995 the band started with material for a demotape which was released in 1996 under the name "Skullcrushing Horror". Two weeks before the recording of this demo, Bas decided to play bassguitar, because we really needed one at that time. It was recorded in the rehearsal-studio with a 4 track-recorder. The tape contains a couple of midfast deathmetal tracks heavy, but messy produced. The reactions on the tape were higher than expected and the tapes were sold out within a couple of months. But, the band had still not found the sound and music that they were willing to achieve.

The period after this, they spend most time playing gigs, rehearsing and writing new material. This sounded already more mature than the demotape released earlier. Eventually, after a lot of writing and scratching songs and some performences, the band decided to record a couple of songs in a real quality studio. This recording took place in August, 1998. This material was intended to be released as a Mcd, but after the first recordings, a record-deal was made with Displeased Records, and so it became a full CD called "From The Pits". Later the two songs 'Use Your Dagger' and 'Venus' were added on the CD.
